Death Cab For Cutie’s new album Codes and Keys is out today. While it may be different for some people who preferred the sounds of the bands debut album Transatlanticism, it is still a pretty good album. I’ll admit that i don’t like every dong on this album and Death Cab has put put better ones, songs like “Monday Morning”, “Portable Television”, and the title track “Codes and Keys” are real standouts on this album. Another thing that is interesting to note is that recently Death Cab For Cutie paid a recent visit to Vh1 Storytellers. If you weren’t able to check the episode out, here is Death Cab performing “The New Year” from their album TransatlanticismVh1 Storytellers

So Weezer has decided to cover the Radiohead song “Paranoid Android” and my mind has just been blown. I did not think that I would ever hear Rivers Cuomo sing a Thom Yorke song. This is the most amazing and yet simultaneously puzzling thing that I have ever heard in my life. The only way Radiohead can keep up now is if they do a cover of “The Sweater Song”… and let the waiting begin.

So Manchester Orchestra Released their new album Simple Math recently and again it just shows what a great band these guys are. Lead singer Andy Hull uses his unique voice to perfection again and the lyrics have more meaning than many of the vapid pop songs that seem to be getting ridiculous amounts of air time today. Their first single “Simple Math” explores the relationship between accepting things the way they are and being able to question things when they don’t seem right. “Virgin” is a song that has a haunting melody that deals with the reality of how hard work can sometimes be for nothing. If you haven’t heard of Manchester Orchestra you should really check this album out and if you have heard of Manchester Orchestra this album will not disappoint you. Their album Simple Math is out now and below are the singles “Simple Math”, “Virgin”, and “Pale Black Eye”

So this year’s past SXSW featured the band Foster the People This indie band uses keyboards and synthesizers not just for a dance/techno beat but for a funky and cool/relaxed sound as well. Their first single “Pumped Up Kicks” gives a very laid back vibe and but at the same time will probably have you blasting the song in your car. Their other single “Helena Beat” is a more of an up tempo song that will definitely have people getting out of their seat and dancing. Their debut album Torches is out right now and I would highly recommend you checking it out. Here are the singles “Pumped Up Kicks” and “Helena Beat”.

Secret Cities

So Secret Cities is a band that just released their latest album Strange Hearts in March. They have a kind of folksy indie vibe going on. The closest comparison I can come to would be similar to the band the Love Language. The first single from their album “Love Crime” kind of has a haunting do wop feel to it. It’s pretty catchy and you’ll find yourself oddly attached to it it. So here is “Love Crime” from the band Secret Cities.

So TV On The Radio is performing at SXSW this year and they performed a song off their new upcoming album Nine Types Of Night called “Repetition”. Very fast paced upbeat song I’m sure will get you excited for the release of their new album Nine Types Of Night later this year.

Crazy Monkeys

So the Arctic Monkeys are coming out with a new album and the title is so appropriate for a British post punk band Suck It and See is the name of the new album out June 6 but I’m sure the band would prefer you just listen.  The name of their first single is “Brick by Brick” and this gets back to what we first heard from the Monkeys when they first came out.  This single gets me excited and I hope you guys are too so here is the single “Brick by Brick” from the Arctic Monkeys.

So the Strokes are coming back with their new album entitled Angels which is coming out March 22 in the U.S.  If you watched these guys on Saturday Night Live last weekend you would have seen them perform their new single “Under Cover of Darkness” live.  Judging by their performance and hearing the recorded version of the song, it differs a little bit from their older stuff but fans of the Strokes will ot be disappointed.  So check out the new single “under Cover of Darkness” from the Strokes.

Hey all you Manchester Orchestra fans here is the brand new single from them entitled “Simple Math” which is also going to be the name of their upcoming album.  If the rest of their album is going to anything like their single I cannot wait to pick it up.  So check out the brand new single from their upcoming album which hits stores May 10th.

The new band Young the Giant needs to be on your radar if they aren’t already.  Their first single “My Body” is a fast tempo upbeat song that will get you excited.  The album as a whole however is much deeper than this.  They deal with the kind of mundane and non-eventful nature of life itself.  The melodies will leave you wanting more as you should for a band as good as them. Check out their song “Apartment” from their self titled album.
